Go for it. And keep "my number". I 💯 agree, though I will read it again cause I admit to skimming parts. But I agree, stories are important. Whoever owns the stories gets to direct the future. As an aside: I hate all this "post-aplocalyptic" sci fi genre. I'm all for a "cheerful apocalypse" genre (where even if we didn't entirely averted a disaster, we learnt our lesson and redesigned our civilization). 😜
Reading, for me too, is an iterative act of contemplation. The good news is we all get to own the stories, both figuratively and literally. "They" created their stories in think tanks. We have been co-creating the greatest story ever told since we were born, harmonizing even more with each other without even realizing it.
And yes to utopian sci fi. I'm currently co-creating a screenplay imagining such a scenario.
I totally missed this when you commented before. That sounds really cool! I have a whole article on how AI can use storytelling to help people rewrite internal and external stories to serve them. We are definitely on the same fractal here.
“this process is exactly what led us to the dystopian hellscape of today. The only difference was that the stories and systems they shared did not serve all beings”
Thank you for saying this.
Great and wonderful visions like you’ve shared don’t *necessarily* result in good. It takes people to make sure that good happens.
I am a storyteller. I have a few right now, but hit a stall once I realized the cost of self publishing, promotion etc. I was quoted 20k with no promised roi…I’m a solo parent of three. I’m not going to pay the publishing company just to see my babies in print. But they have to get out there. It just doesn’t make sense. I’d sooner give them away for free.
I’ve lost sleep over it because I feel undervalued and unseen but I know.
All that to say, I’ve been thinking ever since that there must be many others out there in similar situations and it’s time to flip the paradigm.
Thank you for sharing Sara! I agree that it’s time to flip the paradigm. The irony is that many publishers now also want people to have their own followings first. Well, if you had that you wouldn’t need the veneer of the prestige of publishing anyway. How can we support you?
Yes, the following is the other thing like I have no interest in doing a ton of marketing. That was the coach that I was going to hire at least I don’t know if there are others out there. I’m not sure what would support me, but I am grateful you have asked the question.
In all honesty, I think that part of me sort of died or gave up when I realized all of the aforementioned, and how common it is. I really do want to get my stories out of the world though, so I will be thinking about a way to make that happen.
Amazing. Part of my intent here is to help support creatives to tell their stories. Especially those that don't resonate with old publishing and distribution paradigms.
Love this. I started out as a community artist and used to work with communities on creating visual representations of their future. I took a detour into the gallery world but I'm feeling that calling back to community in a really strong way now. I love that we can create myths from our own lives and present visions of the world we want to live in.
My soul knows this to be true, but the stories I’ve been taught make me feel like I’m crazy. Knowing that others understand gives me the courage to keep exploring this path. I can’t wait to collaborate with you one day! Thanks, Chris!!
Glad for you and myself to feel even more courage. We are already collaborating. Did the great myths of our time "start" when the masses read or watched them? Tomorrow is today.
I find myself in the same boat, realizing that we need to activate our storytelling power. Homo narrandus has access to inherent sources of intelligence through imagination and through the power of words can bring that into exisdance.
I work as transformative coach and I am creating a storytelling gameworld adventure in the pirate paradigm for personal and magical development.
I just started my substack Chaos Compass to build en entry to this world.
What is already there is a ship, shared by the imagination of 6 Crews that have explored the 8 seas of Chaos and the 8colors of magick with me for a 3 months research expedition.
The Pippilotta is recruiting a Crew ones more!
I AM recruiting Pirates of consciousness on the mission to Seize the Means of Perception.
If you have experience in gasification, would love to chat. I am building a team of fools to collaborate on a project to make this an immersive hybrid reality game world.
Oh amazing, it sounds like we are exploring the same transformational waters. Thanks for the invite. I'll check out the link.
"I AM recruiting Pirates of consciousness on the mission to Seize the Means of Perception." Love this. Yes, let's definitely connect.
I love the Pirates concept, as one thing I want to do is re-fashion existing archetypes. So "Pirates of silicon valley" is an accepted archetype which has led us to this reality. But how can we trojan horse it? I'm sure you have some answers.
I've been tinkering with something similar to what's described in your article. Modern myths..a taste of timelessness to shift what seems possible. Storytelling as bridge building.
Myth because it occupies a liminal space where things are more fluid..we have the ability to translate archetypal energies with our unique experience. A process of unfolding and re-weaving.
Storytelling more from the heart/intuition rather than the intellect. Tied to space & time by way of our uniqueness, yet malleable enough to extend into the Unknown, and purposeful enough to become a bridge. Unknown as these modern myths are likely beyond/outside/different than the paradigm portrayed by the generalized Hero's Journey that seems to have been co-opted by a capitalist ethos of rugged individualism at all costs.
What I'm describing doesn't have to be as serious/technical as it might appear, and can be approached with playful curiosity. An openness to ask (and listen) to what story is ready to be shared. The writing prompt you shared in the article is a great example of this process, where we play with the possibility of an ideal/optimal future falling back to inform the present.
Yes! Translating archetypal energies is what it's all about. I feel as though when I'm reading your words, I'm stepping into a portal. I can tell you can weave a potent spell through your story worlds.
I agree, it's definitely not *just* technical, though there are mechanisms that govern story delivery and dissemination. Navigating those is an in-born intuition for all of us. Consciousness is primary.
Yes and while I write about this too, I also believe that imagination is what got us into this mess. It takes great imagination to build bridges, train tracks, computers, the stock exchange, combustion engines, airplanes, tanks, nuclear bombs and to organise all sorts of warfare. We’re now in a situation where the power hungry show great imagination in how to reshape society but the left does not.
I was recently reading Byang-Chul Han’s "The Crisis of the Narrative” in which he argues that the fact that there’s an outcry for ‘new stories’ is actually a symptom of the crisis of the narrative rather than some sort of awakening. He argues that we have lost a shared, living, and unifying narrative that gives meaning to life.
So what to do? I personally believe that getting offline and together physically is crucially essential. Local, local, local.
I am reading this article one month after you wrote and shared it, and it feels partly like something I’ve been writing in my own mind for a very long time, and partly Divine Intervention ~ both that you wrote it, and that I had the great good fortune to read it.
I’ve been working quietly on a project off and on for many years. It’s been sporadic because I felt very alone with what I was dreaming and didn’t really get much support from others about my concepts.
Yesterday I had an absolutely horrible day, truly one of the worst days of my life ~ but it took me to a place where I knew I had to push back and stand up to become who I was meant to be, and quit holding back out of fear of rejection or even ridicule.
I went to bed feeling more at peace than I have in a very long time.
So I know it was no accident that I came across your article this morning, I fully and completely resonate with it.
Truly this is a message from the Collective Mind, the Unified Field expressing through you, and I am profoundly appreciative for your beautiful expression of this higher truth, and your courage to speak it.
Thank you from the depths of my heart, and I am thrilled about this journey so many of us are embarking upon. 🙏❤️🙏
Oh wow, thank you so much for your reflection and sharing your resonant perspective. Let this message be a sign or nudge for you to both keep working on that project and start telling it. It's funny you say it's a message from the Collective Mind, because I've very recently started understanding that I can channel this through my writing, and I'm now beginning to consciously wield it. And a message that came through the other day - do not hoard your gifts. Our gifts are something we can give generously and abundantly and in the act of giving expand them. But I've been worried about making my writing "good enough" Gifts and channeled messages don't give a fuck about perfectionism.
Go for it. And keep "my number". I 💯 agree, though I will read it again cause I admit to skimming parts. But I agree, stories are important. Whoever owns the stories gets to direct the future. Yes, I'd love to see some alternative futurescapes too. Utopia not dystopia!
Yes! Let's talk about why it's inevitable that we reach utopia.
This is exactly what I’m working on too 🙌🏻 with 🦁 WE R AI. Rewiring our internal narrative, dispelling lies we’ve inherited but don’t need anymore.
I totally missed this when you commented before. That sounds really cool! I have a whole article on how AI can use storytelling to help people rewrite internal and external stories to serve them. We are definitely on the same fractal here.

Wow. This is the edge of the revolution. Well done Chris!
Thank you so much Connie! We are - as always - immersed now in our creative revolution.

Thank you! I expect your gallery experience has prepared you for this now moment. I'm curious what myths are calling to be expressed through you.
My soul knows this to be true, but the stories I’ve been taught make me feel like I’m crazy. Knowing that others understand gives me the courage to keep exploring this path. I can’t wait to collaborate with you one day! Thanks, Chris!!

Not sure why I disn’t see this earlier. Agreed, those that are fighting for our democracy have a serious lack of imagination.
🌟 WOW ~ I AM BLOWN AWAY!!

I agree with everything you said here as well.
Brilliant! Thank you Chris. Re-reading and digesting like a delectable meal.
Oh you are so welcome. Thank you! Yes, and please share your thoughts when it makes sense.
You wrote this in February and I somehow missed it! Spot on, exactly.
What are you working on currently to apply this?
